Hindustan Aeronautics Limited informed that the Ministry of Defence has entered into an agreement with the company for the procurement of two Dornier Aircrafts for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The contract is valued at Rs 458 crore.
Ministry of Defence highlighted in a press release, “This addition will help in strengthening the surveillance capability of maritime areas of responsibilities of ICG. It will contribute significantly to achieving Aatmanirbharta in defence, in line with the Government of India’s “Make in India” initiative.
HAL will reportedly manufacture the Dornier Aircraft at its facility situated in Kanpur.
The aircraft will be outfitted with cutting-edge technology such as a glass cockpit, electro-optic infrared device, mission management system, and maritime patrol radar among other things.
Earlier this year, HAL also secured a contract worth Rs 667 crore from Indian Air Force for six Dornier Aircraft.
At around 10.12 AM, Hindustan Aeronautics was trading 0.34% higher at Rs 3,772.15 per piece, against the previous close of Rs 3,759.50 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of Rs 3,800 and Rs 3,745.30, respectively.
