Hindalco Industries Ltd, a global aluminum rolling and recycling company, and Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, an engineering firm, have entered into a strategic alliance to create high-quality aluminium rail wagons and coaches.
These carriages would be critical in supporting Indian Railways in meeting its emission reduction targets while also improving operating efficiency.
The Indian Railways has launched a program called Mission 3,000 MT, which aims to double its freight capacity by 2027. This will be accomplished by improving their rolling stock and achieving a 45% market share in the freight industry.
The railway is actively attempting to improve wagon designs in order to achieve this goal, and so encourage wagon manufacturers to submit designs in order to raise the overall capacity of rail assets.
Hindalco will provide distinctive aluminum alloys in profiles, sheets, and plates. Their internally manufactured aluminum freight carrier, introduced in previous year, is 180 tonnes lighter and has a 19% increase in cargo capacity compared to its tare weight, with Texmaco providing technical knowledge.
They will be in charge of overseeing the design, establishing the factory and production line, and providing trained labor for the project.
