The Management Committee (MC) of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced strategic adjustments with the goal of strengthening the division’s focus on Beauty and Personal Care (BPC) and advancing its digital agenda in preparation for the future.
According to a press release from HUL, the Beauty and Personal Care division will split into separate Beauty & Wellbeing (B&W) and Personal Care (PC) companies as of April 1, 2024.
As of April 1, 2024, Harman Dhillon and Kartik Chandrasekhar will join the HUL MC as Executive Directors for Beauty & Wellbeing and Personal Care, respectively, in place of Madhusudhan Rao, who has chosen to retire as Executive Director of B&W and PC.
With 17 years of expertise, Harman Dhillon is currently Head of India Skin Care at HUL. Having created renowned haircare brands like Dove Hair and TRESemmé in India, she has overseen the TRESemmé company globally and possesses a deep understanding of beauty and wellbeing. As Head of Oral Care & Skin Cleansing for D&E markets and Global Vice President, Kartik Chandrasekhar has been with HUL since 1998. According to the press release, Kartik has a long history in marketing and led Lifebuoy to become the top hygiene brand globally.
‘For us, BPC remains a source of value generation. Nonetheless, B&W and PC have different business models, innovation cycles, and competitive environments. We will be able to use our robust portfolio and increase our emphasis in both industries as a result of the move. CEO and Managing Director of HUL Rohit Jawa expressed his satisfaction that B&W and PC will be led by seasoned industry veterans Harman and Kartik, respectively.
With effect from January 1, 2024, Arun Neelakantan will assume the role of Chief Digital Officer (CDO) in order to propel growth within the digital ecosystem. As the Vice President of Digital Transformation & Growth at HUL, Arun has been instrumental in propelling the company’s transformation into an intelligent corporation.
In response to Arun’s appointment, Jawa expressed confidence in Arun’s capacity to lead HUL’s transformation program’s next phase and stressed the value of staying ahead of trends and utilizing technology for future preparation.
