In an effort to change the culture, Air India sets new goals for its non-flying personnel

4 Jul 2023 , 11:04 AM

For its non-flying employees, Air India has implemented a new organizational structure with new titles, pay scales, and functions that are thought to be more straightforward, competitive in the market, and productivity-focused.

A similar framework had been implemented in April of this year for the flying team, which includes pilots and cabin crew

By eliminating the old ad hoc policies and fostering a culture that is performance and productivity orientated, the new structure is a part of the company’s ongoing attempts to reform the organization.

Employees have been informed of the new structure in order to ensure that their roles and responsibilities are clear and transparent.

‘With this change, the creation of an entirely new organizational structure is complete. We have discussed it openly with all of our staff to support a fair and competitive workplace environment. This will be a company that prioritizes the needs of its customers. Performance, responsibility, and accountability are now the driving forces behind decisions that were formerly influenced by seniority or the number of years of service.

According to Suresh Tripathi, CHRO, in a first-ever exclusive interview with ET, ‘It has also been about bringing greater discipline to the culture by exemplifying consequences for non-conformity to the company rules or the revered Tata Code of Conduct.’ Additionally, Air India employed outside consultants in order to benefit from their experience in assessing job functions and roles and ensuring that they are at par with industry standards.
