Indian benchmark indices concluded on a positive note amidst a volatile session on March 18, with the Nifty hovering around the 22,050 mark.
At the close, the Sensex recorded an increase of 104.99 points or 0.14%, settling at 72,748.42, while the Nifty witnessed a gain of 32.40 points or 0.15%, closing at 22,055.70. During the session, 1953 shares advanced, 1827 shares declined, and 110 shares remained unchanged.
Key gainers on the Nifty included Tata Steel, M&M, JSW Steel, Tata Motors, and Apollo Hospitals, while top losers comprised Tata Consumer Products, UPL, Infosys, Adani Ports, and Titan Company.
In terms of sectors, capital goods, healthcare, auto, realty, metal, and media saw gains ranging from 0.5 to 3%, while IT and FMCG sectors witnessed declines of 0.5 to 1.5%.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices concluded the session on a relatively flat note.
