On the global front, US markets closed in a positive sentiment as the US Fed keeps rates steady. Dow Jones closed 222 points higher. Nasdaq Composite index closed 210 points higher. S&P 500 ended with a gain of 44 points.
Asian equities are trading with positive numbers tracking the gains on Wall Street. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading marginally higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading with a gain of 1.28%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading 1.12% higher. Taiwan index is trading up by 1.60%. South Korean Kospi index is trading 38 points higher.
Sun Pharma, BPCL, HDFC Life, Hindalco, and Tata Consumer emerged as the top gainers on nifty index yesterday. Adani Enterprises, Coal India, Tata Steel, SBI Life, and Adani Ports closed as the biggest laggards.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.18% lower. Nifty Bank index ended the session with a decline of 0.34%.
On Wednesday, the rupee fell 4 paise to 83.28 vs the US dollar, reflecting a strong greenback against major competitors. Oil prices rose slightly in early trade on Thursday, as the Middle East turmoil kept investors on edge.
