Domestic equity markets start the day not so in a holiday mood by opening with mixed sentiments today. On Friday, markets closed in positive numbers with sharp gains.
At around opening, BSE Sensex was at 71,110 points, higher by marginal numbers. NSE Nifty opened with a gain of 11 points at 21,360.
On the sectoral front, all major sectors opened the session in green territory. However, heavyweight IT stocks were seen with a decline of 1%, offsetting the overall gains in the markets.
Despite a cheery holiday season, US markets ended their previous session in mixed sentiments. Dow Jones closed 18 points lower. Nasdaq Composite index closed 29 points higher. S&P 500 was marginally higher at its previous closing.
Asian stocks are trading tentatively in today’s session. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.66% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 opened with a decline of 0.02%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading 1.69% lower. South Korean Kospi is marginally higher. On the other hand, Taiwan index is trading with a gain of 0.67%.
Oil prices were little changed on Tuesday as investors concentrated on geopolitical concerns in the Middle East and hopes that the Federal Reserve, the United States would soon begin decreasing interest rates.
