Indian equity markets see a day in red

Indian markets saw a day in red today. Profit booking took place in many stocks after the gains of yesterday. Some further uncertainty was injected by the increased probability of failure of another US bank, PacWest Bancorp.

Nifty 50 closed, down by 188.05 points. Sensex closed, down by 694.96 points. Top Gainers today were Titan, Maruti, Ultratech Cement. Top Losers today were HDFC Bank, HDFC, IndusInd Bank. 

All the broader indices ended the day in red. Selling pressure was seen in large cap stocks as many banking stocks saw selling. Financial services stocks, Media stocks and Metal stocks also saw selling pressure. Buying demand was seen in some Consumer Durable stocks.

IRFC, Suzlon, and Zomato were the most traded stocks today at NSE, in terms of volume. HDFC Bank, HDFC and ICICI Bank were the most traded stocks in terms of value. 85 stocks touched new 52-week high today at NSE. 11 stocks touched new 52-week low.
