Indian benchmark indices experienced a decline on Thursday. At the time of writing, Sensex recorded a decrease of 334 points, or 0.45%, reaching 74,168, while Nifty saw a drop of 112 points, or 0.49%, settling at 22,592.
The broader market showed a downward trend, with the BSE SmallCap index dropping by 0.70% and the BSE MidCap by 0.46%.
Among the Nifty 50 stocks, only six, namely ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI, and Axis Bank, were in the positive territory, while Tata Steel, Shriram Finance, Titan, Nestle India, and Power Grid Corp. were the main contributors to the decline.
Similarly, among the 30 stocks on the BSE Sensex, only six were in the green zone, including ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI, and Axis Bank, while Tata Steel, Titan, Power Grid Corp., JSW Steel, and Nestle India were the top performers.
On May 29, provisional data from NSE indicated that FIIs sold equities worth ₹5,842 Crore, whereas DIIs purchased equities worth ₹5,234 Crore. In total, FIIs bought equities worth ₹14,162 Crore and sold ₹20,004 Crore, while DIIs bought ₹12,954 Crore and sold ₹7,720 Crore worth of equity.
