The Indian stock market ended on a positive note on May 22, despite experiencing significant volatility throughout the trading session. The Nifty closed just shy of 22,600, recording a slight uptick.
The Sensex saw an increase of 267.75 points, or 0.36%, finishing at 74,221.06. The Nifty was up by 68.80 points, or 0.31%, closing at 22,597.80. The market breadth was mixed with 1,612 shares advancing, 1,734 shares declining, and 103 shares remaining unchanged.
Among the major gainers on the Nifty were Cipla, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Tata Consumer Products, Coal India, and Britannia Industries. Conversely, State Bank of India (SBI), Hindalco Industries, Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, and Apollo Hospitals were the top losers.
