Indian markets end the day again in red

1 Jun 2022 , 04:30 PM

Nifty ended the day today down by 61.80 points. BSE Sensex ended the day, down by 185 points. Top Gainers today were JSW Steel, Coal India, HDFC Life etc. Top losers today were Bajaj Auto, Hindalco, Apollo Hospitals etc.

GDP data of March quarter that came yesterday did not throw any unpleasant surprise, but then it also did not come up with any pleasant one. It showed that Indian economy still has to fully recover from the damage caused by Covid restrictions. Per capita income remained below its level in 2019-20, in 2021-22. Rising inflation remains a challenge before the economy. Foreign investors remain net sellers in the Indian markets. With US interest rates set to rise further, this trend is likely to continue.

Tomorrow too markets are likely to open with dampened sentiments. News of US sending long range weapons to Ukraine gives the impression that the Ukraine war may exacerbate, or may not get resolved at least in the very near term.
