India's exports of passenger cars grow steadily, up 26% from April to June

According to data by SIAM, passenger car shipments increased to 1,60,263 units in the April to June fiscal quarter from 1,27,083 units in the corresponding quarter of 2021—22.

The second wave of COVID-19 in the most recent fiscal year caused difficulties in the auto industry.

Van exports fell from 588 units in the same period of the previous fiscal to 316 units in April—June.

During the time period, Maruti Suzuki India led in exports, with Hyundai Motor India and Kia India coming in at the second and third spots, respectively.

In the reviewed period, Maruti exported 68,987 PVs, up 53% over the 45,056 units shipped during the same time in the prior fiscal year.
Latin America, ASEAN, Africa, the Middle East, and surrounding areas are some of the automaker’s top PV export markets, and its top five export models include the Baleno, Dzire, Swift, S-Presso, and Brezza.

In the reviewed period, Kia India shipped 21,459 units to markets around the world as opposed to 12,448 units during the same period in the prior fiscal year.

In the June quarter, Nissan Motor India exported 11,419 vehicles compared to Volkswagen’s 7,146.

During that time, Honda and Renault exported 6,533 and 6,658 vehicles, respectively.
