India's gig economy will create 9 to 11 million jobs by 2025, says Report

8 Dec 2022 , 07:07 AM

The gig economy is expected to grow by 90—110 lakh workers by 2025 as more and more businesses choose to hire workers on a project basis.
According to a survey conducted by global job site Indeed, people choose gig jobs because they fit their lifestyle, they can choose when and how much they work, or it allows them to make money in between jobs. The gig economy has been one of the most significant economic transformations in a long time.
The paper claims that businesses have also begun to invest in platforms and procedures for gig labor, demonstrating how crucial these are to India’s future job growth.
By 2025, the majority of employers surveyed (58%) predict that the number of gig workers will reach 90—110 lakh, if not exceed, this figure.
Gig workers are independent contractors or freelancers who typically work for a number of clients temporarily.
