Indian markets ended the day in Green on May 2nd, with the Nifty hovering around 22,650 points.
By the closing bell, the Sensex registered a gain of 128.33 points or 0.17%, reaching 74,611.11, while the Nifty climbed by 43.40 points or 0.19% to settle at 22,648.20. Market breadth was mixed, with 1677 shares advancing, 1673 shares declining, and 82 shares remaining unchanged.
Top gainers on the Nifty included BPCL, Power Grid Corporation, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, and Tata Motors, while Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consumer, Axis Bank, and HDFC Life were among the losers.
In terms of sectors, auto, metal, oil & gas, and power each saw gains of around 1%, while the banking and realty indices closed marginally lower.
The broader market indices continued to outperform the benchmarks, with the BSE midcap index reaching a new high and closing with a gain of around 1%, while the smallcap index rose by 0.3%.
