Indices ends flat amid volatility

Indian benchmark indices concluded the day with minimal change in a session marked by volatility on August 22.

By the close of the trading session, the Sensex exhibited a modest rise of 3.94 points, equivalent to 0.01%, reaching 65,220.03. Similarly, the Nifty observed a minor increase of 2.90 points, constituting a 0.01% growth, to attain a level of 19,396.50. 

Among the listed shares, approximately 2150 experienced gains, 1390 registered declines, and 124 remained unchanged.

Adani Enterprises, HDFC Life, ITC, NTPC, and Hero MotoCorp emerged as the top gainers on the Nifty index, while BPCL, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, Eicher Motors, and SBI registered losses.

Of the sectors, all indices except pharma and PSU Bank concluded on a positive note. Capital goods and power sectors each advanced by 1%, while metal and FMCG sectors both climbed by 0.5%.

The BSE midcap and smallcap indices demonstrated a growth of 1% each.
