Indian benchmark indices pulled back from their record highs on Thursday and closed slightly higher. The Sensex gained 236 points, or 0.3% to close at 83,184, while the Nifty surged 38 points, or 0.2% to end at 25,415.
At close, around 1,198 stocks were advancing, 2,610 declined, and 90 remaining unchanged.
These movements come after the US Federal Reserve’s decision to cut interest rates by 50 basis points, marking the first reduction in over four years.
Top gainers on Nifty were NTPC, Titan, Nestle India and KMB while top loserswere BPCL, CIL, ONGC and Adani Ports.
Only 4 out of 13 sectors were ended in green. Telecom was worst hit among sectors while Nifty media, oil & gas stocks also bleed.
