Indices may open positively

Indian benchmark indices may open positive on Monday, September 16, 2024. The GIFT Nifty was trading around 45 points up at  around 7 am IST.

On Friday, the indices closed marginally lower with Nifty falling 0.13% closing at 25,356, while Sensex closed 0.09% lower at 82,890 weighed down by FMCG and healthcare stocks.

Global Markets:

Asian markets trading lower on Monday ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting on rate cut, and on question of the size of cut.

However, the US markets closed higher on Friday with rate-sensitive small-cap stocks outperformed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 297.01 points, or 0.72%, closing at 41,393.78. The S&P 500 added 30.26 points, or 0.54%, to finish at 5,626.02, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 114.30 points, or 0.65%, ending the day at 17,683.98.

FII & DII Data:

The FIIs bought equities worth ₹2364 crore on September 13 while DIIs bought equities worth ₹2532 crore.
