Indian benchmark indices maintained a flat trajectory amid a volatile market on Wednesday. The benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices traded flat on February 21 after the Nifty reached an all-time high of 22,248 in the morning session. However, by noon, a correction in Media and IT stocks caused the headline indices to dip, although gains in metal stocks helped offset the losses.
At 1 pm, the Sensex was up 120.18 points, or 0.16%, at 73,177.58, while the Nifty was up 34.85 points, or 0.16%, at 22,231.80.
Top gainers on the Nifty included JSW Steel, Tata Steel, SBI, Hindalco, and Adani Enterprises, while losers comprised Power Grid Corp, BPCL, Hero MotoCorp, Infosys, and LTIMindtree. In terms of sectors, metal and realty stocks were up 1-2%, while the Information Technology index was down 0.7%. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were trading flat.
