Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) on Monday. As part of the arrangement, IRCTC would provide QR code-based DMRC tickets through its platform.
According to IRCTC, the only firm authorized by the Indian Railways to offer online railway ticket-booking services and provide food services onboard trains, the initiative is set to benefit passengers of both IRCTC and DMRC by streamlining the travel experience and minimizing the time spent at stations in queues for tickets.
IRCTC published quarterly results last week that fell short of analysts’ expectations. For the fiscal quarter ended June 30, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp’s net profit fell 5.4% year-on-year to Rs 232.2 crore.
According to a regulatory filing, IRCTC’s revenue increased 17.5% year-on-year to Rs 1,001.8 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
At around 1.36 PM, IRCTC was trading 1.68% lower at Rs 651.35, against the previous close of Rs 662.50 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of Rs 663.65 and Rs 638.55, respectively.
