According to people familiar with the situation, Reliance Retail’s JioMart has quietly halted operations of JioMart Express, the quick commerce grocery delivery service it launched in March last year.
As a matter of fact, the JioMart Express app is no longer available for download from the Google Play Store and the company’s website has ceased to operate. Instead, it directs users to JioMart on WhatsApp, where deliveries can take several hours or even a day, as opposed to JioMart Express, which was a 90-minute delivery service.
This essentially means that JioMart’s quick service delivery is no longer available. The JioMart orders via WhatsApp are part of a larger collaboration between Meta Inc and Reliance’s Jio Platforms.
JioMart Express debuted in Navi Mumbai, with the Mumbai-based conglomerate intending to expand it to around 200 cities.
JioMart Express was launched only as a pilot for selected users.
