JSW Infrastructure secures letter of award for Rs 4,119 crore all-weather, deep-water port at Keni Port in Karnataka. The greenfield port will operate on a public-private partnership basis with modern, environmentally friendly mechanized facilities for cape-size vessels.
Initial capacity set at 30 MTPA, with potential for substantial future expansion, catering to North Karnataka industries. Keni Port is strategically located between Mormugao Port in the north and New Mangalore Port in the south.
JSW Infrastructure aims to develop Keni Port as a crucial part of Karnataka’s maritime infrastructure and trade gateway. The port’s development is expected to address the growing import and export trade momentum in the region.
JSW Infrastructure, part of JSW Group, holds the second-largest commercial port operator status in India by cargo handling capacity in FY23.
Proposed rail connectivity on the southern side, linking to the existing Konkan line north of the Ankola station, with an 8 km railway alignment. The port project emphasizes robust road and railway connectivity for efficient transportation.
