Indian benchmark indices may make a flat start for yet another session. Yesterday, markets closed with declines. Nifty 50 closed at 19,384. Sensex ended at 65,393.90.
Globally, US markets closed with modest gains. Dow Jones ended with a gain of 86 points. Nasdaq closed 158 points higher. S&P 500 ended higher by 33 points.
Asian equities are trading higher than the previous session. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.85% higher. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading with a gain of 2.65%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 1.29% higher. Taiwan index is trading 1.56% higher. South Korean index ‘Kospi’ can be seen as 0.90% higher.
Nifty Midcap 50 closed 0.36% higher. Nifty Bank closed with a decline of 0.24%.
Yesterday, gainers were led by ONGC, Eicher Motors, Nestle India, Kotak Bank, and SBI Life. Top losers on the chart were Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, Infosys, and Adani Ports.
Oil prices edged up in early trade on hopes of better US inflation and economic data. Indian rupee strengthened against the greenback and ended 23 paise higher at 82.18/$.
