Indian benchmark indices ended today’s intraday session with positive numbers. The gains were primarily led by gains in financial stocks.
Most of the sectoral indices ended the day in high spirits. Nifty Pharma, Metal, and Media indices ended with over 1% gain. Nifty Bank, Auto, and Financial Services stocks closed 0.50% higher.
At closing, Sensex was at 65,930, up by 276 points. Nifty 50 closed with a gain of 89 points.
SBI Life, HDFC Life, Adani Enterprises, Hindalco, and JSW Steel ended as the biggest gainers in today’s session. BPCL, Tech Mahindra, LTIMindtree, NTPC, and Larsen & Toubro closed on the flipside.
A total of 193 stocks touched new 52-week high in today’s trade, and only 9 stocks slipped to new 52-week lows.
IT businesses, which generate a substantial portion of their income in the United States, extended gains on expectations that the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates further this cycle.
Small and mid-cap stocks gained roughly 0.4% apiece and set new highs.
In today’s trade, most active stocks were HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, Tata Steel, and Coal India among others.
