Indian stock markets ended the day with slight gains. Nifty 50 closed 40 points higher. Sensex ended with a gain of 79 points. Nifty Bank closed on a sluggish note. Nifty Midcap 50 stocks ended marginally higher.
In today’s trade, markets remained volatile and registered some gains in the last few hours of trading ahead of the US Fed’s interest rate hike decision. Investors remained positive regarding the demand forecast following China’s move to reduce borrowing costs and the anticipation of additional stimulus measures to stimulate economic growth.
Tata Consumer, Grasim, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Power Grid emerged as the biggest gainers. IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank, and Hero MotoCorp were the top laggards today.
HDFC Bank, Reliance, ICICI Bank, HDFC, and Kotak Bank were the top stocks in terms of value. In volume terms, the top stocks were Tata Steel, NTPC, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, and HDFC Bank.
A total of 150 stocks hit their 52-week highs and 13 touched their 52-week lows.
