Indian equity markets ended the day marginally higher today, after a volatile trading session. Nifty 50 closed 35 points higher. Sensex closed, up by 122.75 points.
Markets have been resilient recently mainly on account of sustained foreign capital flow. An impressive quarterly show in March and a robust macroeconomic outlook of the country can also be seen as a contributing factor.
Among the top gainers were ITC, HDFC Life, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank, and Bajaj Finance. While on the losers’ chart were Hindalco, Adani Enterprises, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, and Dr Reddy’s.
Markets shuffled between gains and losses today before ending the day on a slightly positive note. Nifty Auto, Metal, and Pharma indices ended the day on a sluggish note. All other broader market indices closed in green territory. The mid-cap index ended higher.
HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, and HDFC were the most active stocks in terms of value. In terms of volume, Tata Steel, ITC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and ONGC were the most traded stocks.
On NSE, a total of 91 stocks hit new 52-week highs. 14 stocks plunged to new 52-week lows today.
