Markets end lower for second consecutive session

Domestic equity markets ended the day on a flat note, with very limited movement throughout the day. Sensex closed 256 points lower. Nifty ended with a decline of 112 points.

In Friday’s trading session, markets were highly volatile shuffling between the upward and downward movements. Most of the sectoral indices dragged down the chart. Nifty Auto, Media, and Metal packs declined ~1%. Nifty Pharma held stable ground.

Top gainers were IndusInd Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, and NTPC. Adani Group companies, Adani Enterprises, and Adani fell the most. BPCL, Hindalco, and Divis Lab were the other top losers.

Most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Steel, Adani Ports, NTPC, Adani Enterprises, and SBI. In terms of value, top positions were held by Adani Enterprises, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, Infosys, and HDFC.

A total of 53 stocks touched new 52-week highs, and 18 stocks hit new 52-week lows.
