Markets end on a sluggish note

Domestic equity markets ended today’s session with heavy losses dragged down by weak auto sales numbers and quarterly earnings releases. Nifty 50 closed 219 points lower. Sensex ended with a decline of 677 points.

In today’s trade, Sensex tanked over 700 points tracking global equities as rate concerns persist in the US markets.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank and Auto slipped over 1% today. All other sectoral indices are trading in red after a volatile session.

In today’s trade, top gainers were Divis Lab, Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, and Tech Mahindra. Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, and NTPC were the top laggards.

Most active stocks in terms of value today’s trade were HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Tata and Motors. In terms of volume, Tata Steel, Coal India, NTPC, ICICI Bank, and Tata Motors.

A total of 117 stocks touched new 52-week high and 17 stocks hit new 52-week lows.
