Markets end the day in green

Markets ended the day today in green. Nifty 50 ended the day, up by 175.15 points. Sensex ended the day, up by 549.62 points.  Top Gainers today were State Bank, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors. Top Losers today were NTPC, HDFC, Britannia. Among broad market indices, all ended the day in green. Nifty Next 50 was the biggest gainer. It ended the day with gains of 428.80 points. Midcap stocks also gained today. Nifty Midcap 100 ended the day, with gains of 335.35 points. 

Among sectoral indices, all of them ended in green. FMCG stocks saw very strong buying today. This is not surprising. During times of economic slowdowns, relatively non-cyclical FMCG stocks tend to perform better. Banking stocks continued to see appreciation in their prices today. 44 stocks touched their 52 week high today. 42 stocks touched their 52 week low.
