Markets end the day in Red

After the gains of first two trading days of the year, Indian equity markets ended the day in red today. Profit-booking took place in many stocks. Nifty 50 ended, down by 202 points. Sensex ended, down by 636.75 points. Top Gainers today were Divi’s Lab, Maruti, HDFC Life. Top Losers today were JSW Steel, Hindalco, Coal India. 

Selling pressure was seen across market capitalizations. Heavy selling pressure was seen in many  Realty stocks, IT stocks, Oil & Gas stocks, Metal stocks and Banking stocks. All the sectoral indices ended in red today. Yes Bank, Idea and Suzlon were the most active stocks today in terms of volume. ICICI Bank, Reliance and Infosys were the most traded stocks today in terms of value. 38 stocks touched 52-week high today, at NSE. 26 stocks touched 52-week low.
