Markets end the day in Red

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today. Nifty 50 ended, down by 64.95 points. Sensex ended, down by 168.21 points. Top Gainers today were Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and  Infosys. Top Losers today were Adani Enterprises, Axis Bank and Hindalco. 

All the broader indices ended in red today. Some Midcap stocks saw heavy selling pressure today. IT stocks and stocks of PSU banks saw strong buying demand today. December quarter results of IT companies indicates that slowdown in IT spending by companies is not as much as was initially expected. This turned sentiments regarding IT stocks, positive. Heavy selling pressure was seen in some media stocks and metal stocks.

PNB, Yes Bank, and Maharashtra Bank were the most traded stocks today, at NSE, in terms of trading volume. Reliance, HDFC Bank, and Adani Green were the most traded stocks in terms of value. 44 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 34 stocks touched new 52-week low.
