Indian stock markets ended the day on a positive side today. Nifty 50 closed higher by 38 points. Sensex ended 115 points higher.
Indian benchmark indices remained in marginal gains throughout the day with no major activities. India’s volatility index was about 2% higher in today’s trade.
Nifty Midcap 50 tracked the performance of major indices and was 0.87% higher, while Small-cap 50 was trading up by 1.20%.
Markets remained in a positive momentum throughout the day after a nearly flat start. However, the gains were restricted as investors are cautious ahead of US Fed Reserve’s inflation data. After a surprise increase in interest rates by the Bank of Canada, traders fear US Fed Reserve’s hawkishness on interest rate hikes.
BPCL, HCL Tech, Infosys, NTPC, and Adani Enterprises were the top gainers on NSE today. Top laggards were Power Grid, L&T, Cipla, Maruti Suzuki, and Titan.
In terms of value, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC, TCS, and Reliance emerged as the most active stocks. While in volume terms, Tata Steel, NTPC, ONGC, ICICI Bank, and SBI Insurance were on the top.
