Markets had a volatile day today

10 Oct 2022 , 03:54 PM

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today. The markets had a volatile day . After falling to 17073 level, Nifty 50 rose to 17,276 before closing at 17,252.9. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 73.65 points. Sensex ended the day, down by 200.18 points. Top Gainers today were Axis Bank, TCS and HDFC Life. Top Losers today were Tata Motors, Tata Consumer Products and Hero Motors.
All the broader indices ended in red today. Nifty Mid Cap 150 index was the biggest loser. It lost 107 points in the day. Among sectoral indices, only Nifty IT ended the day in green. It gained 294 points during the day. This happened probably because of increased buying of IT shares, before announcement of results by TCS later in the day. 62 stocks touched their 52 week high today. 54 stocks touched their 52 week low today. The rise in oil prices and other negative cues from global factors clearly weighed down on market sentiments. Rupee again touched a new low today.
