Indian stock markets may see yet another day in the positive territory today. Yesterday, markets ended with substantial gains after a nearly flat start.
Globally, US markets closed on a muted note. Dow Jones ended 11 points higher. Nasdaq closed with a gain of 29 points. S&P 500 was marginally higher in its last session.
Asian peers are trading on the flip side today. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.42% lower. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is down by 1.23%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.43% lower. Taiwan index ended lower by 0.29%. South Korean Kospi is trading 0.36% lower.
In yesterday’s session, Nifty Bank closed 0.32% higher. Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.23% lower.
Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Hero MotoCorp, Tech Mahindra, and Sun Pharma were the top gainers in yesterday’s trading session. Biggest laggards were Eicher Motors, Bharti Airtel, Grasim Industries, Axis Bank, and Reliance.
Oil prices slipped in the early morning session, erasing gains of previous sessions as concerns about a global economic slowdown hurting fuel demand overweighed reduced supply expectations due to output cuts by Saudi Arabia and Russia in the coming month.
The rupee ended the day with a 10-paise decline, closing at 82.01 versus the US dollar.
