Indian stock markets may start the day with gains, marking a positive start to the week ahead. However, mixed cues in Asian peers could restrict these gains. On Friday, markets closed with substantial gains after touching their all-time highs. Nifty 50 closed at 19,564.50. Sensex ended at 66,060.90.
Globally, US markets closed with mixed sentiments in their previous session on Friday. Dow Jones was up by 114 points. Nasdaq closed 25 points lower. S&P 500 ended 5 points lower.
Asian markets are trading in mixed numbers today. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 1.08% lower. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng was stable. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.09% lower on Friday. Taiwan index was trading 0.49% higher.
Nifty Midcap 50 closed 1.54% higher. Nifty Bank was up by 0.35%.
On Friday, the top gainers were TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, LTI Mindtree, and HCL Tech. HDFC Life, Power Grid, Dr Reddy’s, UltraTech Cement, and Titan were the biggest laggards.
On Monday, oil prices fell for a second session after Libya resumed production. The rupee fell 9 paise to settle at 82.17 against the US dollar on Friday, snapping a four-day gaining streak.
