Indian benchmark indices may start the day with positive numbers. Yesterday, markets closed in a positive momentum. Sensex closed 206 points higher at 65,982. Nifty 50 ended the session with a gain of 90 points at 19,765.
On the global front, US markets closed in a lackluster mood. Dow Jones ended with a decline of 46 points. Nasdaq Composite closed with a gain of 9 points only. S&P 500 index closed flat.
Asian markets are keeping the downward trend in today’s early morning session. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.24% lower. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading 2% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed flat. Taiwan index is trading with a gain of 0.51%. South Korean Kospi index is trading down by 0.68%.
Nifty Midcap 50 index closed with a gain of 1%. Nifty Bank index ended the previous session with a marginal decline.
Hero MotoCorp, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, TCS, and Infosys emerged as the biggest gainers in the previous trading session on Thursday. On the losers’ chart were Axis Bank, Coal India, Adani Enterprises, Tata Consumer, and ICICI Bank.
Oil prices were in direction for the fourth straight week of decrease as they were little changed in early Asian trade after sliding almost 5% to a four month-low on Thursday. The rupee fell 14 paise to 83.23 versus the US dollar on Thursday, as a strong greenback in global markets impacted on investor morale.
