Indian benchmark indices may start today’s session on a muted note. Yesterday, markets closed on a higher note. Sensex closed 405 points higher at 65,631. Nifty 50 ended with a gain of 110 points at 19,546.
Globally, US markets closed under pressure as investors await Friday’s payrolls. Dow Jones ended on a sluggish note with a decline of 9 points. Nasdaq ended with a decline of 16 points. S&P 500 closed down by 5 points only.
Asian peers climb in a subtle tone before the US payrolls data. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading marginally higher. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading with a gain of 2.14%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed with a decline of 0.25%. Taiwan index is trading 0.35% higher. South Korean Kospi index is trading up by 0.36%.
Nifty Midcap 50 index closed flat in previous session. Nifty Bank closed with a gain of 0.57%.
Bajaj Auto, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan, and TCS emerged as the biggest gainers on Thursday. Power Grid, Hindalco, NTPC, Cipla, and Nestle India were the top laggards.
Despite rebounding in early trade on Friday, oil prices remained on course for their worst weekly drop since March. Following a comeback in the US currency, the rupee erased initial gains to trade 1 paisa weaker at 83.25 against the US dollar on Thursday.
