Indian benchmark indices may make a flat start to the day after a gaining session yesterday. Yesterday markets closed with heavy gains. Sensex closed 274 points higher. Nifty ended 84 points higher.
Globally, US markets made hefty gains in the previous session. Dow Jones closed 317 points higher at 34,261. Nasdaq ended at 13,761, up by 75 points. S&P 500 finished 30 points higher.
Asian equities are trading in mixed sentiments as traders look forward to inflation data from the United States. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.06% lower. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading 1.33% higher. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.76% lower. Taiwan index was trading 0.26% higher. South Korean ‘Kospi’ index is marginally higher.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 1.06% higher. Nifty Bank ended lower by 0.26%.
Eicher Motors, Sun Pharma, Tata Consumer, Apollo Hospitals, and Maruti Suzuki topped the gainers’ chart yesterday. While, losers were led by UPL, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, JSW Steel, and HCL Tech.
Oil prices were steady in today’s early morning trade. Indian Rupee gained 18 paise against the US dollar and closed at 81.42/$.
