Markets wrap up with gains

Indian stock markets ended the day in the green territory today as May inflation data lent some relief to the investors and sprouted a positive momentum in the markets.

Domestic markets maintained a positive tone throughout the day. Some of the individual stocks witnessed a strong rally in today’s session. Inox Wind Energy surged to its new 52-week high on its merger with parent entity.

Nifty closed 115 points higher at 18,716 points. Sensex ended higher by 418 points at 63,413. Nifty Midcap 50 closed up by 1.54%. All sectoral indices wrapped up today’s trading session with gains.

Tata Consumer, Cipla, ITC, Titan, and Asian Paints were the biggest gainers today. Among the top laggards were Kotak Bank, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, HCL Tech, and Mahindra & Mahindra.

In terms of volume, the top stocks were Tata Steel, ITC, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank. HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, and Reliance were the top stocks in terms of volume.

A total of 141 stocks touched new 52-week highs and 15 stocks plunged to their 52-week lows.
