Maruti Suzuki logs highest-ever monthly sales of 1.89 lakh units in August’23

Maruti Suzuki India announced its highest-ever monthly wholesales of 1,89,082 units in August. The company’s dispatches to dealers were 14% higher in August 2023 than the total of 1,65,173 units in August 2022.

Total domestic passenger vehicle sales were 1,56,114 units, up from 1,34,166 units in the same month of the previous year, a 16% y-o-y increase, according to Maruti Suzuki India (MSI).

It noted that sales of mini-segment cars, which include the Alto and S-Presso, fell to 12,209 units this month from 22,162 units in August 2022.

The delivery of compact cars such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift increased to 72,451 units from 71,557 units the previous year. 

Utility vehicles, which include the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Ertiga, and XL6, sold 58,746 units this month, up from 26,932 units in August of last year. MSI said that its exports last month aggregated 24,614 units, up from 21,481 units in the same month last year.
