Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced on Tuesday that it has started exporting the five-door version of its Jimny SUV. The model will be sent to numerous destinations, including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, according to a statement from the automaker.
Previously, in November 2020, Maruti Suzuki began the manufacturing of the three-door Jimny exclusively for exports to Latin America and Africa.
It introduced the Jimny five-door in the domestic market in June of this year.
MSI now exports a diverse variety of 17 cars across categories, in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ strategy.
Last fiscal year, MSI was the leading exporter in the passenger vehicle market. It shipped 2,55,439 passenger vehicles last fiscal year, an 8% rise over 2,35,670 units in fiscal year 2021-22.
The presence of Jimny in the SUV segment has strengthened the auto maker’s reputation and stands confident with off-roading enthusiasts, emphasizing the commitment of the company to exporting Indian-manufactured passenger vehicles.
