Ministry of Power accords pre-investment approval of Rs973 crore for NHPC; stock surges ~2%

NHPC Limited informed that the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has accorded investment approval for pre-investment activities for Sawalkot HE Project (1856 MW) in UT of Jammu & Kashmir for an amount of Rs973 crore at November 2021 price level.

NHPC is responsible for implementing the Project.

The company has grown to become India’s largest hydropower development organization, capable of handling all aspects of hydropower project development, from conceptualization to commissioning.

NHPC Limited is further seeking expansion into the fields of solar and wind energy.

At around 10.48 AM, NHPC was trading at Rs34 up by Rs0.55 or 1.64% from its previous closing of Rs33.45 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs33.65 and has touched intraday high and low of Rs34.50 and Rs33.45 respectively.
