Indian benchmark indices closed with marginal gains on October 10, with the Nifty ending below 25,000, despite staying in positive territory throughout the session. Gains were led by metal and banking stocks.
Sensex rose by 144.31 points (0.18%) to close at 81,611.41, while Nifty was up 16.50 points (0.07%) to settle at 24,998.50.
Top Nifty gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Bharat Electronics, Maruti Suzuki, and Power Grid Corp. Major Nifty losers were Cipla, Trent, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, and Hero MotoCorp.
Sector-wise, IT index dropped 1%, pharma index fell by 2%, and the realty index dipped 0.4%, while banking rose 1%, power index increased 0.7%, and metals gained 0.3%. The BSE midcap index was down by 0.3%, while the smallcap index rose by 0.4%.
Over 120 stocks hit their 52-week highs on the BSE, including Apar Industries, Coforge, Dixon Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Torrent Pharma, and HCL Technologies
