The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority announced on Monday that it fixed retail prices for 74 formulations, including diabetes and high blood pressure medications.
Based on the decision of the 109th authority meeting held on February 21 this year, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the prices under the Drugs (Price Control) Order 2013.
The NPPA has set the price of one tablet of Dapagliflozin Sitagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride (extended-release tablets) at Rs27.75, according to the notification.
Similarly, the drug pricing authority has set the price of a single tablet of the blood pressure medication Telmisartan and Bisoprolol Fumarate tablets at Rs10.92.
The NPPA also stated that the ceiling price of 80 scheduled formulations (NLEM 2022), including those for epilepsy and neutropenia, has been revised.
The maximum price for one Sodium Valproate tablet (200mg) has been set at Rs3.20. Similarly, the maximum price of a Filgrastim injection (one vial) is Rs1,034.51.
The cost of one tablet of the steroid Hydrocortisone (20 mg) has been set at Rs13.28.
The NPPA is responsible for fixing/revising the prices of controlled bulk drugs and formulations, as well as enforcing the prices and availability of medicines in the country.
