The largest integrated power utility in India, NTPC Limited, today inked a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a division of Oil India Ltd. involved in petroleum product refining and marketing, regarding potential collaboration on the proposed bamboo-based Bio-Refinery at NTPC Bongaigaon and other green projects.
By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, the two CPSEs hope to expand their use of environmentally friendly chemicals, venture into sustainable solutions, and work together to promote the North-East region as a means of accomplishing the country’s Net-Zero goals.
In the august presence of Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD OIL & Chairman NRL, Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, MD NRL, and Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD NTPC, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
By 2032, NTPC plans to have 60 GW of renewable energy capacity and be a significant player in the fields of energy storage and green hydrogen. The corporation is pursuing a number of decarbonization activities, including hydrogen mobility, biofuels, carbon capture, and green hydrogen.
