The closing bell on August 23 saw benchmark indices concluding in positive territory, with the Nifty hovering around the 19,450 mark. This upward movement was predominantly driven by gains in metal, banking, capital goods, and realty stocks. By the closing bell, the Sensex registered a gain of 213.27 points or 0.33%, reaching 65,433.30, while the Nifty marked an increase of 47.50 points or 0.24%, reaching 19,444. Among the listed shares, 2016 witnessed an advance, 1487 declined, and 156 remained unchanged.
Adani Enterprises, HDFC Life, ITC, NTPC, and Hero MotoCorp emerged as the leading gainers on the Nifty index. Meanwhile, the decliners included BPCL, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, Eicher Motors, and TCS.
