19 Jan 2022 , 12:22 PM

Indian Currency

Rupee weakens against the US benchmark dollar at the interbank forex market on Wednesday tracking shaky domestic equities and higher crude oil prices leading to restlessness among the investors.

In the early trade of Wednesday, the rupee fell by 12 paise to Rs 74.70 against the US Dollar.

On Tuesday, Rupee shed 33 paise to close at a two-week low of 74.58 against the dollar.

The US Dollar index crawled to recovery in this week’s trade.

The dollar index picked up pace against the Indian currency on rate hike expectations.

Bond yield hit pre pandemic highs @ 1.87% with the 2 year bond yields hitting 2% for the 1st time in over 2 years. Crude rises to 7-year highs as colder weather & rise in demand sees prices rise sharply.
