Rupee Vs. USD: Indian Rupee Opens 7 Paise Higher Against the USD

20 Jul 2023 , 10:20 AM

Indian rupee starts Thursday’s trading session with a gain of 7 paise against the US dollar. Local currency opens at 82.02 per dollar, compared to the previous day’s closing rate 82.09.

The dollar index declines to nearly 100 as the offshore yuan rises by 0.7% to nearly 7.18 per dollar. Yuan’s boost attributed to the People’s Bank of China’s efforts to facilitate overseas funding for domestic firms.

Rupee closed 6 paise lower at 82.09 per dollar in the previous session. Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, show flat performance during early trade.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) make net purchases of Indian shares worth Rs 1,165.47 crore on Wednesday. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) sell shares worth Rs 2,134.54 crore, according to provisional data.
