Sterlite Power announced the acquisition of Beawar Transmission Ltd. for the development of an electrical transmission project in Rajasthan. Beawar Transmission is a REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
The SPV was given to Sterlite Power in August through tariff-based competitive bidding, according to a company statement.
According to the announcement, the company would build the Green Energy Corridor project through Beawar Transmission Ltd on a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) basis for 35 years.
According to the company, this is Sterlite Power’s 19th power transmission project in India obtained through tariff-based competitive bidding, and it now manages projects worth Rs 12,000 crore.
Initially, a 350 km 765kV transmission link connecting Fatehgarh III’s renewable energy zone to the Beawar substation would be built.
Then, in Beawar, a 3,000 MVA 765/400kV Substation will be built, followed by the construction of two LILO lines totaling 120 km.
Sterlite Power was awarded Part G Phase III of the Fatehgarh III Beawar Transmission Ltd project in March. With the completion of both portions F and G, the transmission line will be one of the country’s greatest green energy corridors.
