Tata Motors announced on Saturday that its total domestic wholesales jumped only by 3% in March to 89,351 units, compared to the same month last year. In March 2022, the company sold 86,718 units.
The sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market increased to 44,044 units last month from 42,293 units during the corresponding period in the previous year.
As per the report, the sales figures for commercial vehicles in the domestic market showed a slight decline, from 47,050 units in March 2022 to 46,823 units in March 2023.
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023, the company sold a total of 9,31,957 units in the domestic market, a 35% increase over 6,92,554 units in 2021-22.
Passenger vehicle dispatches increased 45% to 5,38,640 units in FY23, up from 3,70,372 units in FY22.
Shailesh Chandra, the Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, mentioned that India has achieved a new milestone in terms of sales of passenger vehicles in FY23. The remarkable growth observed in the industry was primarily due to the high demand that built up after the COVID-19 pandemic, the introduction of multiple new vehicles, and the resolution of the semiconductor supply shortage.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales jumped 16% year on year to 4,13,539 units in FY23.
