Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has inked an agreement with Tata Communications worth 105 Crore to build an 18.75 MW captive solar facility in Maharashtra.

The facility, located in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, is expected to create over 40 million units (MUs) of power while offsetting more than 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, according to Tata Power.

TPREL has inked a power supply agreement with Tata Communications for an 18.75 MW group captive solar power facility, the company announced.

‘We have collaborated with Tata Communications to assist them in shifting towards renewable energy, facilitating their advancement in the digital ecosystem as a frontrunner in the Communication Technology (Commtech) sector. Our tailor-made green energy solutions, including group captive solar, will not just lower operational expenses but also enhance energy efficiency,’ stated Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director of TPREL.

TPREL, a Tata Power subsidiary, has accomplished a significant milestone by surpassing 1.5 gigawatts (GW) in group captive projects.

PPAs include a wide number of sectors, including steel, polystyrene, mining, iron casting, manufacturing, hospitality, and automotive, among others.

Tata Power, previously one of three corporations known as Tata Electric Companies, is one of India’s major integrated power companies. The company is a pioneer in technological adoption, having achieved several firsts that contribute to the country’s energy independence.
